Why Quiet Turn

A private forum to expand your capabilities.

While many executives come to us needing support in using and understanding AI’s operational envelope, there is also room to follow an interest, enjoy an experiment, and develop new ways of working that reduce quotidian drudgery.

In using AI, many executives rediscover the very things that attracted them to their roles and their industries in the first place.

AI is a force-multiplier for sure—but its greatest trick is creating space to focus on what matters.

Where we got our name

We can't resist a pun

The information workforce is experiencing a transformation as meaningful as the Industrial Revolution. Data centers aside, much of it is subtler—and quieter.

And in case you didn't know: the unit of exchange between a person and an AI chat is called a “turn.”

Turns out humans and machines both like wordplay. When it was time to name the firm, our founding principal sent several agents to find something suited to the work. They returned hundreds of possibilities. Quiet Turn was the name the agents and their human collaborator agreed on.

Discretion is the point.

It is not simply a courtesy we extend; it is our modus operandi.

Nothing about what you say leaves your principal without your say so, no matter who foots the bill.

While we appreciate public mentions of our work, and the generosity of those willing to share their stories, Quiet Turn has no expectations from you other than active participation in the work we do together.

The quiet turn becomes visible.

At first, your transformation is subtle: a sharper question, a better-prepared meeting, a piece of work that no longer has to wait.

Then the effects compound. Peers notice the pace and quality of your thinking. Your team sees you working differently. Others in your orbit begin to ask what changed.

It can look sudden from the outside. You know it was built one step at a time.

The Research Desk

Management and Leadership in an Accelerated Future.

Our writing follows the larger questions: how leaders decide, delegate, develop people, improve teams, and sustain a worthwhile working life as conditions change. While the principles are the same, the techniques and efficacy can differ massively in the age of AI.

The Research Desk is our institutional credit for AI-assisted research and writing. One or more of our principals edits and publishes the essays and holds final editorial responsibility. More about The Research Desk.
